JAMES O'CONNOR

James entered the practice of law with ten years of employment experience working for a large multi-national corporation. While there, Mr. O’Connor honed his time management and people skills as he led a team of over fifteen employees in day-to-day operations with strict deadlines while adhering to Federal and State regulations. He excelled at conflict resolution among the department employees as well as among the various departments of the company, while advocating for and initiating new policies. It is these skills he uses through mediation, arbitration or trial, to obtain favorable and cost efficient results for clients of the firm.

Having conducted hundreds of depositions, and having been on trial in every county from the Bronx to Suffolk, James is already a veteran of the courthouse. He is admitted to practice in the State Courts of New York, and the Federal Courts of the Eastern and Southern Districts, and the United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit. James focuses on personal injury and insurance matters. He is a graduate of Bernard M. Baruch College, with a B.B.A. in Finance. He is a graduate of St. John’s Law School, where he participated in the Charles M. Sparicio civil trial competition and received the “Excellence for the Future Award” from the Center for Computer-Assisted Legal Instruction. In 2000, he earned his diploma in Trial Advocacy Skills from the National Institute of Trial Attorneys (“NITA”) for completion of the Northeast Regional intensive trial techniques training course.
James works diligently with attention to detail during pre-trial preparation including pleadings, document discovery, depositions and motion practice and settlement negotiations. When trial is necessary the prior preparation allows the firm’s clients to put their best case before the jury. He is a member of the St. John’s Law School Alumni Association, the New York State Bar Association, the Nassau County Bar Association and the New York State Trial Lawyers Association.
